Armstrong Optima Ceilings Now Available With Plant-Based Binder
To help meet the needs of sustainable design, Armstrong Ceiling & Wall Systems' Optima Open Plan family of ceilings are now available with a fiberglass substrate made with a plant-based binder.
Armstrong is the first ceiling manufacturer in the country to use the new bio-based fiberglass binder, which is rapidly renewable and formulated without formaldehyde resins. Optima Open Plan ceilings with the new plant-based binder are available in both lay-in and tegular 2' x 2', 2' x 4', and 4' x 4' panels for installation in 15/16" grid, and in tegular 2' x 2', 2' x 4', and 4' x 4' panels for installation in 9/16" grid.
The ceilings offer outstanding sound absorption with a noise reduction coefficient of 0.95 and an articulation class of 190, and also feature a high light reflectance value of 0.90. This property is a key consideration in spaces where there is an extensive use of indirect lighting and a desire to extend natural daylight into the space.
Other sustainable properties of the Optima Open Plan family of ceilings include its high recycled content of 71% and its durability and humidity resistance, both of which contribute to longer service life.
