WoodTrac Ceiling Systems Designs Save Raw Materials

The WoodTrac Ceiling System by Sauder offers a green solution to consumers struggling to find an environmentally friendly way to upgrade their ceilings. Over 90 percent of the entire WoodTrac Ceiling product and packaging is made from recycled material; no trees are cut down for the purpose of producing the product.

WoodTrac is made up of laminated medium density fiberboard (MDF) and, unlike solid wood panels that only use around half of a tree, WoodTrac uses over 95 percent of the actual tree product. This reduces massive amounts of lumber waste that typically goes unused, including bark and scrap materials. All wood panels used in Sauder production are “Environmentally Preferred Product” (EPP) by the Composite Panel Association.

The Sauder Woodworking Company has also implemented its environmental sustainability efforts into its 230-acre, 4 million-square-foot production facility located in Archbold, Ohio, successfully reducing its carbon footprint by 10,000 metric tons. Over the next two years, Sauder will be putting forth further initiatives to become a national environmental leader in the wood industry.
